Our Mission

We are a local, 501C3, grassroots organization founded in 1995 to support the independence and excellence of our public schools. CSPS is committed to the constitutional principles of the separation of church and state, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech.

Our Goals

To sustain and improve local public schools
To disseminate information regarding public school issues
To inform citizens about local government and state government affairs related to local public schools.

Recent CSPS-Sponsored Events

September 2008: Welcome meeting and "Evolution Confusion," a fall kick-off welcoming new members and a panel of local scientist/parents explaining current attempts by some members of the State Board of Education to undermine the teaching of evolution
"Getting Ready for Robin Hood," a school finance panel discussion open to the Bryan-College Station community, featuring local and state school officials
Annual school board candidate forums to which the entire community is invited to participate and ask questions of potential school board members as well as sittting members
Informational meetings on state legislative initiatives, new education codes and other public policy matters related to education

encourage high quality teaching and learning in CSISD;
increase the exchange of information between schools and the community;
promote justice, diversity and tolerance for all students in CSISD;
and provide a forum for discussion of important issues affecting public education.
