BVC-CHAT TT and memberships

Willie Allen reported that there are 64 signed waivers for the time trial
series. The time trial series was initiated to earn money for the club
currently there is a disparity between what new and current members pay for
the series. How should it be resolved? Free if a BVC member? College
students pay a reduced rate? Making it a club sanctioned event was put
forth, but that was countered with the fact that bylaws will need developed
to cover that and may limit participants to members only. Also, is the time
trial course OK with participants? Any other locations come to mind?
- I suggest reducing the fees for members to $1 and non-members to $2. Maybe
offer a $20 membership and TT series for new members with no T-shirt option.
- I wouldn't want to limit the TT to members-only. Seems like that would
have the effect of reducing potential membership and repeat riders.
- How about a college student discount of $10 for the whole series? Keep <18
yr olds free.
- I figure that in the next few years, there will be a traffic light at
Villa Maria, killing 47 as a TT course. Finding something near town without
heavy traffic or decent shoulders will be tough. The Greens Prairie
extension is good, but other than being too far for many, it may not be long
enough (might get 7.5 miles with a swing onto Rock Prairie before dirt road
begins). Is there a loop in the Dowling area that could be used?
Willie wanted to know if lifetime BVC memberships were of interest to
anyone - $50? The average lifespan of a BVC membership is roughly 5 years.
- I'm interested. Do I get a new shirt every year? If so, $50 is too low.
Maybe a non t-shirt lifetime deal with an "at cost" t-shirt option would
work.
