Everyone... Please stop focusing on the "pickup driver" part of these
discussions. The "pickup" part is just factual detail. When you get an
e-mail and consider being offended, forget "pickup" and just focus on
"driver".

I have had bad encounters with many drivers of various motorized
persuasions: Honda Civics, Cadillac Escalades, Chevy Impalas, Toyota RAV4s,
Chevy Suburbans, Buses, Chevy 3500s, heavy farm equipment, semis, and
4-wheeled rusted rat traps, just to mention a few. I have only had
something thrown at me once, and that was from a old Toyota car. Everytime
I've been yelled at, it's been from a truck. I've been run off the road
once, and that was by a vehicle that I'm pretty sure would have been a truck
if you removed the rust-orange protective layer. And I've been cut off or
threatened by quite a few vehicles, but they were diversified enough that
they don't fit a general classification. Heck, for all I know it's the same
person and he happens to drive around the vehicles on his used car lot.
(About the only group that I have yet to have a problem with are
motorcyclists, but that's beside the point).

It would be stupid to ignore that the drivers were to blame and the vehicles
were merely objects of aggression, but it hardly makes for good stories to
remove any and all adjectives. And if you think that a story gives is
stereotyping drivers of a specific vehicle type, make sure that it's not YOU
who are imposing your own stereotypes upon the story.
