While the clinic would be wheel building 101, wheel building in and of
itself is certainly NOT a bike maintenance 101 question.  Whether
you are a beginning mechanic or a more advanced one, however,
I'd imagine you'll learn something. 


I say:

I highly encourage folks to try their hand at building a wheel sometime, it is very interesting and enlightening.  The wheels on my fixed gear came to me as a pile of parts and were my first (and so far only) attempt at building wheels.  They have been more trouble-free than anything that came stock on a bicycle (but I do not buy that nice of bicycles so I'm not claiming mine are the best possible...)
