Great idea, Billy.

Even though I don't ride (yet), I can volunteer to clean the bike (if it needs a cleaning). Maybe someone else can volunteer to give it a tune-up if needed. My skills in that department are rather lacking... With a good cleaning and tune-up a 2-year old bike can look and feel almost new.

Ride on,
Roelof

Subject: BVC-CHAT Bike to Work Day-Bike Giveaway

I have a gently used 2-year old Trek 800 Hybrid bike that I'd like to donate to BVC, so BVC can then find a person who cannot afford to buy a bike and who has an immediate need for a bike so they can get to work. The bike is in great shape. It has a platform on the rear and a front and rear light. It has standard pedals. I was inspired to do this yesterday, because I noticed many bikes at the Shammy car wash and found out many of the workers bike to work every day. I asked if anyone there had a need and they said everyone had a way to work. Then it hit me....BVC finds a needy individual and gives the bike to them on bike to work day at Freebird's or wherever. I just wanted to toss this out, get some feedback and determine if this would be feasible. I'm wondering how we would determine the recipient. My idea was someone who had low income and no transportation. It could be a worker or student who needs transportation. What do you think?
