BVC-CHAT Back from Vacation/ BVC stuff!

I'm finally back from vacation, though with a cold/respiratory infection.
Still taking things slowly as I recover.

I'd like to have the next BVC meeting on Tuesday the 17th if that is
copasetic with everyone. I have a lot to do next week including a cycling
safety presentation to the International Student orientation, and a friend
visiting from Albany, NY.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the bike giveaway ... seems like a long
time ago ... in December.

I'll be writing up something for the ACA this week and next week to send in to
their newsletter. Any pics y'all have got of the event would be appreciated.

Sherman and Rachel Watters sent in some pics of themselves in their BVC jerseys,
take a look at http://www.brazoscyclists.org/bvcjersey.html.
Send in pics to me and I'll put them up.

Anyone else have fun cycling (or otherwise) on vacation? I went to the Grand
Canyon and enjoyed some hiking. Canyons are tough -- you go down first, then
have to climb back out. My IT band protested loudly to some of this, but
it recovered. The National Parks all seem to take alternative transportation
seriously, as there are major traffic jams due to many visitors. Even
in the GC in December, but I think the week between Christmas and
New Years is particularly busy. Must be a madhouse in the summer. Marked
bike routes througout the park (though it is not where I would go
specifically as a road riding destination)! Also, a lot of people seem
to fall off the edge of the Canyon. Enough to merit a fairly thick book
called Death in the Canyon. I survived my flirting with the edge!
