Given bike description, age, and where you parted ways, it sounds like
Steve Gustitis, who probably would have continued on I&GN out to
Wellborn were he riding back from Caldwell.  He's also a very nice guy
who would do something like that.

And he doesn't curse, except occasionally around me for humorous 
effect. :-)
