Subject: BVC-CHAT Tire Advice
I'm new to the road biking thing, so I am not really sure what to look
for in a good tire. Lately, I have been having a BIG problem with flats,
primarily at the rear tire. Either I'm swapping out tubes on the side of
the road at 7am, or I find a flat from a slow leak the next morning when
I'm getting ready to ride. It has become annoying. I didn't have quite
this bad of a problem before school started, since I would wait until
after the sun was all of the way up before riding. Now I have been
leaving the house well before the sun is up, and I am sure that I am
riding through the hillbilly minefields and not even realizing it.
So...what do you all recommend for a tire that is reasonable light, has
good grip, yet puncture resistant? I am currently running the stock
Specialized Mondos that came with my Allez, and I think I could give
myself a flat with a butterknife.
