BVC-CHAT Knee Pain

So, I was having back pain issues, but managed to get a handle on why (bike
posture and gear selection), and now I have ridden as far as 59 miles
back-pain free. Unfortunately, the end of that 59 miler brought on a bout on
pain behind my left knee. The pain feels like it is at the tissue connection
between the lower end of my hamstring and the connective tendons. The pain
feels like it goes through the tendons and to the top of my calf muscle. I
began to feel the pain after several full-tilt out of saddle in the drops
sprints up any roller/hill I encounter for the last 10 miles of that ride.
For the last few sprints, I noticed the pain, but it wasn't severe, so I
ignored it. I skipped a day, then road a short 25 mile barn-burner in the
wee hours of the morning. The pain was present but not severe at the
beginning of the ride, but worsened throughout. I stretched my hamstrings
and calves extensively after that ride, then rode again the next morning,
but the pain was severe enough that I couldn't do much more than spin at a
slower speed. I didn't ride today and won't ride tomorrow, more due to
weather than anything, but I am also hoping that two days off will have me
feeling better.
Has anyone ever experience this kind of pain (its only in my left knee)? I
feel like the pain is more in the connective tissue than anything. I had
something similar happen a few years ago when lifting weights. A day after a
few sets of curls, the cusp of my elbow hurt so bad that I couldn't
straighten out my arm. The pain wasn't in my biceps or in my forearm, but in
the tissue in between. I am wondering if I should ride through it or be
worried about it. What do you all think?
