Just FYI, we won't necessarily do the full route.  As I have not made  
quite the progress I'd hoped on the paper I'm working on, it is quite  
likely that I will peel off at Independence and ride the God-forsaken  
section of 50.  (It's actually not that bad once you get past 1361.)   
And if I do, if the group is small, it is quite possible that that  
will incline some or all of the others to do likewise.  And perhaps  
the prospect of a shorter option will entice a few others to join us.
