I've been told by some good mechanics that the best thing for carbon 
(and even other) seatposts and other carbon things you need to 
tighten is Tacx assembly compound. It's a purple gel that looks like 
grease, but it has some fine stuff in it that feels like sandpaper 
particles. The particles are supposed to make the posts stay in place 
with less torque, while preventing the posts from binding into the frames.

I've had very good success with the stuff. ...one small tub (a few 
ounces) would assemble many frames.
