I don't think Church has ever been canceled. Postponed to a later time,
when we know the weather will improve later in the day yes, but I can't
recall anyone calling for it to be canceled (not that anyone really has
that authority anyway, given that it comes from a higher power)
If it's raining hard in the morning, some of the die hards may show, but
the odds are inversely proportional to the severity of weather. A
steady downpour and I'll usually ride if I had already planned on it,
but lightning means all bets are off. Of course, if you show up to a
deserted flagpole in the rain, you might as well do part of the ride
since you're already wet.
A poll on Friday to see which die hards are predisposed is recommended.

Riding in warm heavy rain isn't really hard, and can actually be kind of
fun. The exercise in Stoicism comes on days when there's light rain and
sub-50 temps. Those are the days that tighten up the gristle.
