[Bvc-chat] Looking for road bike

Hi,
My housemate is looking to buy a road bike (so I can have company on long rides!). He is looking to spend around $600 for an entry level bike. Any suggestions on where to start looking locally?  What sort of quality used bikes are around? I am a fan of Specialized bikes but he doesn't have a preference.
