[Bvc-chat] Bike-carrying luggage?

Thanks for all the great responses so far! I just thought I'd clarify my
logic on a couple of points.  I'm planning on flying Southwest, so that
should limit the bike handling fees to $50 each way. I figured that would
end up as a better deal than the ~$100 each way I was seeing reported
online for mailing a bike.

As for renting a bike on the other side, I didn't find many options for
that (esp for a road bike) and the one that I did find required a cash or
check deposit for the full retail value of the bike. I can understand their
logic, but I don't really feel comfortable with it.
