Well, George Bush has been striped on both sides now and the bike path through Bee Creek & Lemon Tree Parks is being worked on. People still ride the wrong direction on George Bush, but I guess that's the riders fault. A little more education is obviously need. I would also like to see much more done in the community and am willing to spend a day at a workshop. I think it is a good idea worthy of pursuing.
While were at it, is anyone interested in starting up a weekly social ride, with the emphasis on "social". We have had one in the past but it fell by the wayside some time back. I envision something around an hour long where spouses or families could ride without feeling intimidated by speed or distance. Any ideas or comments?

Some 9 years ago, the City commissioned a Mobility Study that generated
a lot of bike lane discussion, and even some new signage and bikelane
marking, around town. Maybe it's time to get that revisited. A couple
of things the City's not done, that they said they'd consider... or
actually do... include: 1) restripe George Bush for bike lanes on both
sides, thus ending the bidirectional travel a misguided traffic engineer
thought was safer; 2) remove (obliterate) the "Stop" signage painted in
the bike lanes at intersections along Bush, which require bicycles to
yield to cross traffic simply because there's cross traffic (most of
that signage is obliterated by age); 3) Stripe or physically segregate
Texas Ave. for cycling lanes now that the construction is completed.
Lo these many years ago, the TxDOT engineer responsible for the Texas
Ave project was responsive to cycling, and the City Staff were similarly
interested in working with the cycling community. Most of the adverse
comments came from residents who didn't want to lose their curb-side
parking on already congested streets to a cycling lane, and thus tried
to use "cyclist safety" as a rationale for not implementing the lanes.
I'd suggest we see about convening a "Safe and Effective Cycling"
workshop, publicize it to the world, and specifically invite TxDOT and
the City's Traffic Engineering staff. This'd mean we'd have to all
think in terms of dedicating a day of our own time to make sure the
attendance was reasonable: If it were just the organizers and the
professional engineering staffs, they're not going to be too excited!
Thoughts?
