General Meeting Notes (probably incomplete, please chime in if I
forgot anything important!)
Thanks to everyone for coming out. New faces are always welcome.
New volunteers are always welcome. Interested doing in something we
are doing or something we aren't? Come to a meeting and
volunteer to (help) put it together.
I'm putting these notes in logical rather than chronological order.
0) Because it is coming up soon this goes first: We're going to have
a cyclists tour of the Wind Tunnel this next Thursday (July 25).
Lance Armstrong goes there to work on his cycling aerodynamics.
The Wind Tunnel is located near the airport. Lenae Huebner put this
together, and you can email her for more information
lhuebner at cgsb.tamu.edu
1) Membership. We are going to try to push membership to BVC. This
will give us some operating capital for things like the web site,
supporting Bike-to-Work day, BVC business cards, the mailing lists,
organized rides, etc. Please consider becoming a member! The dues
are $25 per calendar year, (checks made out to Brazos Valley
Cyclists), mail to
Colin Allen, BVC Treasurer
200 Suffolk Avenue
College Station, TX 77840.
Your $25 dues will earn you a BVC t-shirt when they are available...
2) The web site has a new address, and various updates to
rides and our mission have been made. See http://www.brazoscyclists.org/
for more information.
3) T-shirts/Jerseys: If you have design ideas, please email them to
Colin Allen colin-allen at tamu.edu We hope to get T-shirts fairly
quickly, and paying $25 in membership dues to BVC will get you on the
list for a T-shirt when these are available.
Robert Rose says he can get us plain jerseys for a reasonable cost,
and then we could have these screened with a BVC logo. I believe
Kevin Baker is looking into the T-shirt creation and Jersey screening.
4) Business cards for BVC are available, thanks to Ed Hadden. We hope
to get them in all the local shops soon. If you want some to pass out,
contact Ed Hadden e-hadden at tamu.edu
5) John Rauser would like to keep the Kids-to-Camp bicycle ride going,
but needs help from the cycling community to plan out the ride. He
says the Lion's Club can probably handle event-day support, but he
needs volunteers to help with the set up. Publicizing, route
selection, etc. Email John if you want to help out. Please help out!
john_rauser at cis-gw.tamu.edu
6) There's gonna be an easier pace/friendlier ride on Saturdays.
Thanks to Kevin Baker, Colin Allen and Ed Hadden for putting
this together. Ride starters are needed, please volunteer if
you can do an upcoming Saturday (7/27 and 8/3 are coming up fast)!
Email me (drjinx at texas dot net) or Kevin (bakerman at tamu.edu) or Colin
(colin-allen at tamu.edu) or Ed (e-hadden at tamu.edu) to volunteer.
Jean Marie is handling the reminders, Kevin, Colin and Ed are
helping put the ride together until ride leadership surfaces.
7) We're going to be doing a regular once a month meeting, 2nd Monday
of the month (starting 8/12), after the Monday Social Ride. Freebird's
Northgate (University near Wellborn), preferably out on the promenade
behind the restaurant. This next meeting will discuss Bike to Work
Day (an effort led by Robert Rose -- cycleset at nettexas.net
for more info).
8) We'd like to put together a ride for new cyclists -- maybe 5-10
miles. If you'd like to help by figuring out a route, spreading the
word, putting up flyers, showing up and help keep track of the riders
so no one gets left behind, please email Jean Marie Linhart
(drjinx at texas dot net). I'd like to do this a Thursday toward the middle
or end of August.
9) Bikeway master plan will be presented to the CS planning and
zoning commission on Aug 1, and to the City Council on Aug 22.
Let's try to show up for the City Council meeting on Aug 22.

I'm sure I forgot some stuff, and screwed up some stuff, but
I'm darn tired of typing. Hope that was informative. Hope to
see you out on the road (on your bike, of course).
Thanks to all who attended and who are helping out!

Service)
