[CSPS] Forward Fest

> To reiterate Cecelia Hawkins> '>  observation in her e-mail of earlier today, CSPS participation in the Forward Fest was a success. CSPS got positive publicity, attracted new members and participated in a good cause. Many thanks to Cecelia, Susan, many booth volunteers and contributors to the banned books baskets.

> Listening to the response of the banned books basket raffle winners on learning of their win was exhilarating. The winners received their baskets yesterday and they are:
> 
> 1.	Anita Van Ouwerkerk. Anita is a reading instructor at Blinn College and won the > "> adult books> ">  basket. She said she will read the books and then donate them to the Blinn library. She would have been a valuable active member of CSPS had she not been moving to Dallas this summer. 
> 
> 2.	Maria Camacho. Maria won the > "> sex education books> ">  basket. She has many school going grand children who, she felt, will benefit from the books.
> 
> 3.	Litao. Litao won the > "> children books> ">  basket. A TAMU Education graduate, she helps develop on-line courses for the Bush School. She was pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of books in the basket and plans reading them to her two children.
> 
> One thing common to all the three winners was their lack of familiarity with CSPS. We need to think about how to get more people in our community familiar with CSPS and what the coalition does. Participation in events like the Forward Fest is one such avenue and an article or a letter to the editor on CSPS in The Eagle and/or The Battalion is another. Any ideas you may have in further publicizing CSPS are welcome.

> Notwithstanding the need for more publicity, we have recently attracted quite a few new members who have become actively involved in the CSPS mission. We will soon be electing a new CSPS Executive Board for next year and you can anticipate seeing the names of many of these new members serving on it. Stay tuned...
