We learned at the School Health Education Council meeting on Tuesday
night that Worth The Wait will no longer be used at the High School (at
least not until further review). The Council is in the process of
selecting textbooks for grades 1-12 (there's really just one book for
grades 9-12 as only one semester of health is offered), and after a book
is selected, we'll look at deficits and need for supplemental materials.
If additional material is needed to cover the TEKS for sex ed (as is
expected given what we've heard about the state-approved textbooks) the
Council will then consider a variety of materials. The textbook
selection must be made before March, and other materials review will
follow. It was suggested at the Tuesday meeting that we also look at
the summer computer-based course since so many students take their
health class in summer school.

I second the endorsement of Kate's suggestions.
