CSPSers:

Lisa was having trouble posting to the csps list so I've copied her message
to you all below:
*******************
Dear Friends,

Thanks for all the helpful e-mails and advice regarding CSISD policies
regarding enrichment. I have learned a great deal in a short time about the
district and its practices. Becky Lane, the enrichment specialist at
College Hills and Southwood Valley, Robin Oberg, in charge of special ed and
many other things for the district, and Debbi Hudson, principal of College
Hills, were all very helpful and generous with their time.

I asked the board last night to reinstate the SEM (schoolwide enrichment
model) for the whole district, and especially the one-specialist-per-campus
funding. They listened, and Mark Chaloupka responded with a lecture
exhorting me to complain to the legislature. Of course I am doing that
already, but I think that all funding situations are tight, and that this
program ought to be reinstated if at all possible.

I didn't claim to represent anyone but myself yesterday, of course. I think
that the CSPS is a great group doing very important work. Even though I've
only just joined the list, it seems to me that strategic concerns would
dictate sticking to a relatively narrow message, or at least including only
one or two issues at a meeting. If anyone on the CSPS list (or anyone else,
for that matter) has advice for me regarding my personal interest in the
district's enrichment program, I would love to hear it. What should I do
next?

Thanks again!

Best,
Lisa Ellis
