Subject: Textbook Funding - GoArts!
Textbook Funding Needs Your Help - from the GoArts Campaign
Please accept this belated thanks for your participation in the recent
GoArts campaign. Though the campaign was well supported, we still need your
help to get full funding for fine arts textbooks.
Without going into all the details, here is where we are. The House budget
does NOT fund all textbook materials, which are scheduled to go into
classrooms in August. This budget does NOT include funding for fine arts
materials.
The Senate holds the key now. We need you to contact your senator's office
immediately and simply state the following in your own words:
1. As a member of the legislature, it is your constitutional
responsibility to provide instructional materials for the schoolchildren of
Texas.
2. Vote for FULL funding for all instructional materials, which are
scheduled to go into classrooms in August. Our teachers and students need
and deserve these standards-based, up-to-date materials.
Call or email your senator today -- time is of the essence.
We are distributing to each member of the Senate the list of registered
voters in their districts who supported GoArts. The House members received
theirs recently, and it created quite a ripple. Senate leadership has
indicated they are going to fully fund all textbooks, but your senator needs
a gentle push from you.
Thanks in advance for your efforts to support full funding for textbooks in
our state. Call or email your senator today! The contact information for
your senator is listed below:
Senate District: 5
Senator Steve Ogden
