CSPSers:

I just now talked to Melissa in Fred Brown's office. I strongly reiterated the CSPS position against vouchers and urged her to convey to Fred our insistence that he not change his position on the issue. She promised to inform him ASAP.

She said she was totally unaware of any new efforts to get a voucher vote on the floor though of course could not predict what may happen in the future. Please stay tuned to http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/

Subject: URGENT VOUCHER ALERT FOR BRYAN/COLLEGE STATION

We anticipate a private school voucher vote on the floor of the Texas House or the Texas Senate in the next few days. We are on HIGH ALERT.

Multi-million dollar private school voucher funder Dr. James Leininger is in Austin today putting pressure on legislators. Rep. Fred Brown's position on vouchers may have changed to being in support of vouchers. We need your help!

Please call and urge your neighbors and friends who live in Bryan and College Station to call the Capitol office of state Rep. Fred Brown at 512-463-0698 RIGHT NOW! Please tell Rep. Brown's staff:

-- Thank you for your past strong support for public schools and opposition to private school vouchers.

-- Please continue to stay strong in opposing vouchers, and the folks back home will support you. Texas taxpayers cannot afford to pay for private school vouchers.

Rep. Fred Brown could cast the tie-breaking vote on vouchers, so it is very important that he hearm from his constituents in Bryan and College Station! Calls should be made Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please forward this message on to others.

Please e-mail heather at tfn.org after you make your call so we can track our impact.
