Dear CSISD Trustees and Administrators,

As I complete my tenure as President of the Coalition for Support of Public Schools (CSPS), I want to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank each of you for the success of our district's schools. A&M Consolidated High School's recent rankings and winning the state UIL conference 5A championship are just a few indicators of this success. Such accomplishments become even more remarkable given our state's dismal public school funding record and the adverse affect of the "Robin Hood" mechanism on our district.

I also want to introduce to you the new executive board of CSPS. Its composition is given below. As you may already know, our membership deeply cares about the content, quality and delivery of knowledge to our students as well as the nature of the environment in which this occurs. We would like to believe that this active involvement of our community in its schools is one reason, albeit perhaps a modest one, why CSISD is thriving.

Over many years, our membership has supported and continues serving CSISD in many diverse capacities. Our members regularly volunteer in class rooms and they have actively served on many committees-from the numerous Subject Advisory Committees and District Education Improvement Councils to the recent Planning and Growth Committee and the Re-zoning Committee.

The new CSPS board remains committed to supporting the quality of education and the well being of all students by helping the CSISD trustees and administrators in any way it can. We do not shirk from bringing important issues to your attention, nor does our talented membership shirk from enthusiastically and diligently serving when asked. I hope you will continue keeping us engaged by asking our members to serve on your committees and task forces, especially during the period when we seek replacement for a very effective top administrator.

Please feel free to contact any of the board members listed below, and in particular our co-presidents, Kate Kelly (<mailto:kate-kelly at neo.tamu.edu>) and Howard Marchitello (<mailto:marchitello at tamu.edu>), if an opportunity where CSPS can be a useful resource arises.

Co-Presidents: Kate Kelly and Howard Marchitello
Vice-President: Lisa Halperin
Secretary: Rebecca Hankins
Treasurer: Arturo Alonzo

Arvind Mahajan, Paul Parrish, Susan Scott and Katie Womack

With best wishes for a pleasant summer...
