[CSPS] The Letter

Just to provide the rational, and not necessarily take a position, Catholic
was included because it was not that long ago that the majority of people in
this county did not welcome Catholics into the fold of Christians. This is
also a nod to a speech on the separation of church and state given by
Kennedy in 1960 defending his right to be a Catholic and run for president.
The other religions listed have specific emotional appeal or relevance and
together suggest inclusiveness. While I would not be opposed to changing
Baptist and Catholic to Christian, we are opening ourselves to a very long
list indeed if we try to include all who feel unwelcome in this town. - Hugh
