[CSPS] City Council; Kate Kelly's correct email address

I have no problem with CSPS signing on, because the mayor's statements
have implications for our children since they are a part of the
community.  The issue of the separation of church and state impacts all
of us-if they can do this on the city council, the next leap will be the
schools.

Dear CSPS Friends,

You have no doubt been monitoring--through the emails from Hugh
Stearns--the current issue with the CS City Council, prayer, and the
matter
of the Mayor's recent (and egregious) comments about the status of CS
as
a
"Christian community."

CSPS has been asked to endorse--as an organization--the full-page ad
(with
signatures) to be placed in THE EAGLE. Kate and I are therefore asking
for
your opinion on this question. To my mind, though this isn't strictly
a
public school issue (and is therefore only tangentially related to our
work
as a group), it is nevertheless a separation of church and state
issue,
which is indeed one of our core concerns and has therefore always been
at
the heart of CSPS.

I expect (and understand) that there may be a variety of opinions on
the

question of our official endorsement. Please let me or Kate
(kate-kelly at tamu.edu) know if you would like CSPS to endorse or to
decline
to
endorse the ad. We will abide by the majority opinion.

And may I also ask that you respond asap: the ad will move forward
quickly
and we should make an active decision on this.
