Hi all,
It's great that our kids learn about the rain forests in South America and the wildlife in Antarctica, but it's just as important that they learn to love and appreciate (and hopefully preserve) the ecosystems right here in the Brazos Valley. Below is a great opportunity to help you kids find out more about the nature around them right here at home!
Learn about our Local Aquatic Ecosystems!
Blinn Aquatic Center Open Tuesday Evenings this Summer!
Bring your kids to the Blinn Aquatic Center on Tuesdays this summer from 6 - 8 pm to see and learn about aquatic wildlife native to the Brazos Valley.
a.. Use microscopes to examine aquatic insects, local pondwater and other natural specimens
b.. See and learn about fascinating live specimens from our local ponds and rivers: turtles, fish, crustaceans and more - kids can help feed them at 7 pm!
c.. Explore our touch table with everything from 20 million-year-old fossils to fresh shells and bones
d.. Hands-on science projects and nature-related art projects
e.. Texas Master Naturalists will be on-hand to guide projects and answer questions
Blinn Aquatic Center will be open every Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 pm from June 19th through August 15th, except for July 4th.
Please call ahead for groups of 10 or more (open for groups at other times by appointment).
The Blinn Aquatic Center is located at 2014 in the College Park Center, one block north of St. Joseph Rehab Center on East 29th street (three doors down from the Traditions Bookstore).
