School Finance Special Session Alert
Ask Texas Lawmakers for Real School Finance Reform




Sign the "Fund Texas Schools" Petition After months of anticipation, Governor Perry has called the 
Texas Legislature into Special Session starting April 17, 2006, 
to address constitutional problems with Texas’ public school 
finance system.

Many state leaders are ready to cut local property taxes with 
tax shifts and gimmicks that result in one-time savings and 
create more problems down the road.

Temporary taxes cuts do not equal school finance reform.

Our local schools work tirelessly to educate 
the children of Texas, but dwindling state support has left 
Texas further and further behind the national average, 
dropping from 32nd to 40th in the last 5 years.

Any real solution to Texas’ school finance problems will require 
new state revenue, and at a minimum will boost teacher pay 
and average per-pupil spending to the national average.

Ask state leaders to provide our schools the resources they 
need to deliver an excellent education to every Texas child. Go 
to www.fundtexasschools.org to ask the Texas Legislature to 
move our schools toward education excellence by increasing 
funding for our schools to at least the national average.
