Friends,
On Friday Jan. 25, Mike Farrell, former star of "M*A*S*H" and
currently appearing on "Desperate Housewives," will host a screening
of the classic motion picture, "I Want To Live!" on January 25th at
The Angelika Theatre in Houston. Film buffs, "M*A*S*H" fans, or
opponents of the death penalty will want to attend (that should cover
everyone). More details below.
On Saturday, Jan. 26 TCADP will hold its annual meeting at the Crowne
Plaza Houston West in Houston. This annual conference is always a
great opportunity to learn about what is being done to eliminate the
death penalty. Mike Farrell will be the keynote speaker at the
conference.
To register for either event, visit TCADP's web site at
http://www.tcadp.org/
If you plan to attend either event, please let me know as there are
people looking to cooperate in transportation.
The screening on Friday is a fundraising event for Texas Coalition to
Abolish The Death Penalty, which hopes to use the event to ensure a
full-time staff member to assist members of the Legislature with
research, run public education programs and provide support for
students, local organizations and members of the media wanting to
raise awareness or study the death penalty in Texas.
Susan Hayward won an Academy Award for her role in "I Want To Live!,
portraying Barbara Graham, a woman who was executed by the state of
California in 1955 despite the fact that she may have been innocent.
