Dear Texas Moratorium Campaign Supporter:
Tell Governor Perry to halt executions immediately! December 10th, 2003 is not only Human Rights Day, but sadly, Kevin Zimmerman's execution date. One of six men scheduled to be executed in a three week period, this disturbing push of individuals through the death penalty system is cause for concern. Sacrificing time spent on individual case investigation in order to push individuals through the death penalty system is unacceptable! Click below--tell your Governor that an immediate moratorium on executions must be implemented!
During the weeks between November 20-December 11, 6 men have been scheduled for execution by the state of Texas. The high number of executions in this short period of time raises concerns about rushing the death penalty practice. When the priority is time reduction and not pursuing justice, individuals are pushed through the system without adequate attention to individual trial proceedings. This highlights a disturbing trend within the Texas death penalty system in which speed in processing is more highly valued than in-depth analysis of each case.
December 10th is International Human Rights Day. Sadly, it is also the scheduled execution date of Kevin Zimmerman. Take action now and ensure human rights are upheld in Texas! Tell Gov. Rick Perry to bring a halt to all executions immediately so this flawed system can be investigated!
The Moratorium Campaign will keep you updated as progress is made in halting executions in Texas.
