Dear Friends,

It has been decided to postpone publication of the letter until at next
Thursday.  This will give us time to gather more signatures and hopefully
get enough donations to enlarge the size of the ad.  The Thursday paper also
gets read a little more thoroughly, and tends to go more slowly to the
recycle bin, as it has entertainment information in it.    If you are
sending money, would you drop me a private note saying how much so that we
can plan the size of the ad.

We realize that putting off the publication will mean not having it out
before the Senate vote.  It was decided that we may not have beat the vote
anyway, and that the outcome of the vote is a forgone conclusion.  Public
sentiment, though, will continue to play a roll in shaping policy.  Putting
this off lets us broaden our base of inclusiveness.
