Three anti-death penalty candidates are running for the Texas Court of
Criminal Appeals (CCA) this year. This is the State Court with the most
power and influence as to how the death penalty is administered and whether
it should be at all.
These are enormously influential positions, but apparently only 100,000
people actually vote in the judicial elections.
This is because the judicial races are on a separate ballot.
Getting three or even one or two abolitionist judges on the CCA is
critically important and it is feasible.
Several men on Texas's death row are trying to get the message out - please
help them spread the word and, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO REGISTER AND VOTE!!!!
The candidates are:
Place 1 race: Rob Owens
Place 2 race: Pat Montgomery
Place 3 race: Ollie Ruth Jefferson
In order to vote:
Ask for the UNDER BALLOT when you go to the polling centers.
I am not sure how this is done for absentee ballots, but I'm sure there's a way.
