As I said, there's no quarrel about XML.

Re abstract syntax:  I like the idea, but there's
no time to do it right.  Let's just go with the
LISP-like notation as the default.

There will be *exactly one* technical standard.

The W3C document that contains that standard
will be in HTML.  Harry will take that HTML,
put it into MS Word with the ISO template.
That will be the ISO version.
