Announcement and Call for Papers
Special Session: 50 years of "Syntactic Structures"
at MOL 10 UCLA, July 28 - 30
http://kracht.humnet.ucla.edu/marcus/mol10
The publication of Noam Chomsky's "Syntactic Structures" in 1957 was
the beginning of the "generative revolution" in linguistics. It
introduced into linguistics the rigor and formalization of the
burgeoning field of symbolic logic. It was a major contribution to
the cognitive revolution. It led to the establishment of formal
language theory in theoretical computer science.
This year's Mathematics of Language conference commemorates the 50th
anniversary of the publication of "Syntactic Structures" with a
special session.
We welcome submissions of papers related to the topic of the special
session. This includes, but is not limited to, historical,
philosophical, or methodological aspects.
Invited Speakers for the Special Session (confirmed):
Geoffrey Pullum (University of California, Santa Cruz)
Marcus Tomalin (Cambridge University)
