TS Help needed -- date conflict!

The Touchstone garage sale is currently set for Saturday morning,
February 28 at the Unitarian Fellowship on Wellborn Road in College
Station. We just found out that's the same day as the annual Planned
Parenthood luncheon/fund raiser. Planned Parenthood also is having a
reception for the luncheon speaker of Friday evening February 27. Although
several members of our garage sale "planning committee" would want to
attend the luncheon and possibly the reception, none of us was aware of
this date conflict until yesterday. While this conflict probably won't
reduce our number of buyers present at the sale significantly, it will
definitely have a serious impact on the number of volunteers we have to
help out since many of our usual volunteers are also active in Planned
Parenthood. The sale is big and it needs many volunteers. Right now we
have at least three volunteers, but it would be better if we had 10 or
so. The date conflict may also reduce the number of items that we have to
sell since many of our usual donors may not have time on Friday/Saturday
morning to stop by the Fellowship Hall with their items.
The alternative is to change our garage sale date. We are looking
into that possibility. However, Feb. 28 was the only date in February that
the Unitarian Fellowship Hall was available and we have already put down a
deposit for that date. (We have found from our last several sales that the
Fellowship Hall is an excellent location -- it's centrally located, big
enough for the sale and protected from the weather.) Even assuming that it
would be ok with the Unitarian Fellowship that we change our date without
us losing the deposit, in March we would have to deal with there being
spring break (when we definitely do not want to have the sale).
Assuming that we decide to go ahead with the sale on Feb. 28, we need
to get some idea of the number of people who will volunteer to help
out. We need people to help out on Friday evening Feb. 27 with
transporting items set up (free pizza, beer, and soft drinks), on Saturday
morning Feb. 28 at the sale especially between 7:30 and 10 AM (free
muffins/donuts and coffee), and on Saturday afternoon for clean up and
remaining item disposal. If you can help out, would you please let me know
as soon as you can and when you could.
Thanks!
Danny
