VFP Free Movie, Music, & Poetry: Fri., June 1
On Friday, June 1, Veterans for Peace will be
screening Sir! No Sir! at the Palace Theatre, 105
South Main, in downtown Bryan.
Filmmaker/Activist David Zeigerâs documentary
chronicles the largely forgotten anti-war
activities of American GIs and other members of
the military during the Vietnam era. Powerful and
surprising, this look back at a
little-investigated chapter of history weaves
together the stories of veterans who participated
in the opposition movement, an effort that, by
the early 1970s, found widespread support from civilians and troops alike.
Music by Chris Puente. Poetry by the Revolution
Slam Poetry Team. Music and poetry start at 7:00
PM. Movie starts promptly at 8:30 PM.
Sponsored by the Brazos Valley Veterans for
Peace, the Brazos Valley Progressives, the
Downtown Arts & Culture Association (DACA), and
the Brazos Valley Unitarian-Universalist Social
Justice Committee. The entertainment is free. Cash
donations are welcome. Donations of canned food
for the Brazos Valley Food Bank are greatly
appreciated and will be collected at the door.
